The freedom school team of teachers consists of 5
dedicated martial artists who have trained internationally and who have pursued
their individual disciplines to a high level. The teachers cross train and
learn from each other, keeping the beginner’s mind.
Hans Menck (3rd
dan karate, 2nd dan aikido) is the founder of FreedomSchool.
He teaches aikido, kenjitsu, taiji and neijia gongfu. Hans has practised
martial arts for 30 years and has trained extensively under masters in China, Japan,
Australia and Europe.
Roger Williams and Barry
Gelderblom are both 3rd dan black belt karate instructors. Roger
and Barry have followed the karate way since childhood, and have trained in Japan on
multiple occasions. They have won successive South African full contact
championships and have represented South Africa
at kyokushin-kan World Tournaments in Russia
and Hungary.
Marlow Cannon(Gekitiba)
teaches traditional capoeira and brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ). Marlow is from Mozambique and has studied Capoeira and BJJ in Brazil under
the best of the best. He studied BJJ with members of the Gracie family and
Capoeira under Mestre Guimba (Marcelo Santos) of the Groupo Danca Da Liberdade.
Sensei Thulani Ndlovu is
a 3rd Dan kyokushin karate expert and managing director of DimensionalStuntSchool.
Sensei runs stunt courses in the FreedomSchool dojo on weekdays
and he is an overall creative force at the freedom school, making the link
between martial arts and performing arts, stunt work and dance performance.
