Yoda was a wise and powerful Jedi master who lived a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
His last days were spent in seclusion on the marshy planet Degobah, and died at the age of 900. Shortly before his death he took on his last apprentice, Luke Skywalker.
Yoda taught that the Force, a universal energy field, was the source of a Jedi’s power. The Way of the Force was a dual path, one could take the good path or the evil path, the “dark side”. Yoda warned against the seductive power of the dark side of the force and taught that a Jedi should be patient and guard himself against the “allies” of the dark side: fear, anger and hate.

“Do or do not… there is no try!”
“Fear is the path of the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering”

“Soon will I rest, yes, forever sleep. Earned it I have. Twilight is upon me, soon night must fall.”
“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them not. Miss them not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is.”

“Beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression: the dark side of the force they are. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice.”

“A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind.”
“This one a long time I have watched. All his life he has looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing? Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.”
